Dani and Whitney first reached out to us over Instagram looking for some guidance on where they could elope near the treasure valley. Like many 2020 brides, they had cancelled their wedding and were looking to elope in Idaho with just a couple of friends by their side. We chatted a bit and asked a few questions to see what location might best fit the vision they had for their day. Their stipulations were: a place to set up their kickass retro camper, and somewhere they would be able to drive their motorcycles. We gave them a few suggestions, and they really liked the idea of a Snake River Canyon elopement.
Although we do usually location scout for our couples, D+W wanted to check it out themselves and make sure it was right for what they were wanting. After taking a look, they told us it was perfect!
Their elopement was in September, but you really can’t plan for Idaho weather. The forecast called for a high of 105 degrees, and the PNW was in the midst of some of the worst wildfires we had ever seen. Although Washington and Oregon were hit the worst, Idaho had been getting a good amount of smoke rolling in as well. D+W weren’t fazed in the slightest, and we headed out to get them married.
When we got there, Michael and I, W and a couple of her friends all pitched in to set everything up, and waited for D to get there.
D wanted the first time W saw her to be when she was walking to her for the ceremony, and it was beautiful!
They started their ceremony at the perfect time, the wind billowed through D’s dress and ruffled W’s hair. The golden sunlight and the smoky haze made everything seem so magical. D+W read each other their vows, and although I almost always tear up during vows, I have to say these ones were probably some of the most beautiful ones I’ve heard. Maybe it was a combination of the romantic setting, the intimacy, and the passionate way they spoke about each other, but it was such a surreal and magical moment.
After the ceremony, we took some time to take some photos of D+W, while one of D’s friends began singing and playing guitar.
D+W had a gorgeous set up with a charcuterie board. They also had a beautiful cake by Figgy Cakes, and some beer and champagne to top it off. When we finished taking couple photos, they ate, drank, and laughed with their friends while we all enjoyed the music.
We ended the night by heading over to get some shots on W’s motorcycle, just as the first stars were starting to come out.
D+W’s Snake River Canyon elopement was gorgeous, with so many little traces of them weaved throughout. We’re so grateful that we were able to be a part of bringing their perfect day to life. Thanks Dani and Whitney!
xx Jackie
